Pharmaself 24 – Collecting medications in hot weather

Due to the hot weather we are currently experiencing, temperatures within our Pharmaself machine may exceed the recommended storage conditions for medications. As a result, we are temporarily unable to store medications in the machine.
In the meantime, medications can be collected from the dispensary between 9:00am and 6:00pm. Please note that the dispensary is closed between 1:00pm and 1:30pm.
We will monitor the temperatures daily and advise when medications can be safely stored in the Pharmaself machine and normal collections can resume. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Meningitis B – Information

We are conscious of national reports of Meningitis B.

At this time, we are not aware of any impact on our local area, and we are waiting for further official guidance and updates from the government.

It is useful to make yourselves aware of the signs and symptoms of the disease. We have shared some very useful videos from Wilmslow Health Centre to our story on FB.

General symptoms of Meningitis B can include:

• Fever

• Severe headache

• Vomiting

• Stiff neck

• Sensitivity to light

• Drowsiness or confusion

• A rash that does not fade when pressed (this may not always appear)

Babies may show different signs, such as poor feeding, irritability, floppiness, cold hands/feet, or difficulty waking.

If you are feeling unwell and are worried about symptoms, please contact the practice or 111. For emergencies please contact 999.

We are not able to administer the Men B vaccination in practice, outside of the Baby Immunisation schedule.

Men B was only introduced as part of the Baby immunisation programme in 2015 so anyone who was born before this is unlikely to have had the vaccine, unless they paid for it privately.

We do offer the Men ACWY vaccination. It is a very important vaccination to have. It should be given at school, in years 9/10. Any students who missed their vaccination should be offered an appointment at a Catch up clinic. If they also missed this catch up, then please contact us to see if we can help. However please note that this will not protect against the current strain (Men B) being seen in the outbreak affecting the Kent area.
