Update to service – First Aid Unit based at CNHC (31.03.21)

The First Aid Unit (based at Chipping Norton Health Centre) is changing how it operates. This is so it can become integrated into the wider Out of Hours health services of Oxfordshire and it will allow the team to provide care for more people.

How will the First Aid Unit service be available to me?

The First Aid Unit is not a walk-in service. You must have an pre booked appointment to be able to attend for treatment.

You may be advised by the care navigators at Chipping Norton Health Centre to call 111. This could be because at the point when they receive your call they assess that your need for care could be managed successfully on the same day within a first aid unit setting more appropriately than by the Health Centre clinicians.

You can contact NHS 111 if you have an urgent health concern. Your condition will be assessed and you will be directed to the most appropriate service. This may be a same day appointment at the Chipping Norton First Aid Unit.

Why choose 111 instead of calling your GP surgery?

NHS 111 is here to make it easier and quicker for patients to get the right advice or treatment they need, be that for their physical or mental health.

24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

To get help from NHS 111, you can:

  • Go online to nhs.uk (for assessment of people aged 5 and over only).
  • Call 111 for free from a landline or mobile phone.

The First Aid Unit is staffed by Specialist Practitioners (Advanced Paramedics and Nurses) from South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS).
