Cervical Smear tests

Cervical Cytology (also known as a smear test for women) is undertaken at the Surgery by the doctors and nurses who have undergone specific training in this examination. It is recommended that you have a cervical smear at the following times:

If you are aged 25 to 50 years of age: Every 3 years

If you are aged 50 to 64 years of age: Every 5 years

Best results are obtained if you try and have the test during the middle of your menstrual cycle (about 14 days from the first day of your last period)
